Valentine’s Day Ideas

celebrate valentines dayValentine’s Day has got to be the most romantic day of the year. Well, it is supposed to be anyways (probably up there with your anniversary).

But far too often people rush out at the last minute only to find some lame card because the shelves are all empty.

Is this a way to celebrate your love for one another? I think not.

There are plenty of ways to show your mate that you love them this Valentine’s Day, and they don’t even require that much planning. This way, you can spend the day celebrating one another and your special connection.

Star Gazing

People have done it for centuries. There is a whole mystery with the stars that creates a romantic atmosphere of wonder and delight. Take a fuzzy blanket, a bottle of wine, and some Valentine’s Day sweets and spread out with your partner to snuggle and try to find constellations like the big and little dipper, and Orion.

Bonus points if you bring along a star gazing chart, or name a star after your sweetie as a surprise.

Love Quote Treasure Hunt

Pick up a book of romantic quotes at the local library or bookstore and transfer them to paper. A cute idea is to make them in scroll form and tie them with a ribbon. Then, (not forgetting where they are) hide them around the house or neighborhood. Make up a map for him or her to follow. Be sure the “booty” at the end is worth the hunt!

Bonfire Romance

Make a bonfire at a campsite, they are relatively cheap to rent. Another idea is to make one on the beach if they are allowed, or even in your own backyard. Get all the ingredients for S’mores and snuggle close watching the fire, and talking while feeding one another. Fire always makes for a perfect romantic lighting; you could even bring some music to dance by.

Personalized Basket

Anyone will love this idea, male or female! Grab a big basket at your local craft store and fill it will all of their favorite things. Be it Godiva chocolate or a big bag of pizza rolls it doesn’t matter. Some other ideas are movie tickets, sporting event tickets, kitchen supplies, tools, iTunes gift cards, favorite snacks and candies, restaurant gift certificates, favorite lotions, scented candles, funky socks or clothing from a favorite store.

Breakfast in Bed

As cliché as it sounds, and is, breakfast in bed is a tried and true method to win the heart of your sweetie yet again. When you wake up, the way it happens determines the theme for the rest of the day. If you wake up to chaos you have a chaotic day, if you wake up and everything is going wrong, well you get the idea. Breakfast in bed

That is why breakfast in bed is so amazing. Imagine waking up to the smell of coffee, heart shaped pancakes topped with strawberries and whipped cream, and a side of bacon; your beautiful love smiling at you holding the tray, and a little love note by the plate. It’s like heaven!

If you want to go the extra mile you can give them a massage after, or draw them a bath and join them for some clean time fun. The possibilities are endless.

I don’t know about anyone else, but I’d take any of these ideas over flowers and candy for sure.

It’s that extra little thought put into ideas that makes them special, memorable, and extra romantic.

Especially for a day like Valentine’s Day.

Oh I wish we were allowed to have bonfires on our local beach. We aren’t allowed to light any fires or collect any of the wood. I love watching movies where they are all gathered around the fire on the beach and everyone is having fun and telling stories. It always seems so romantic to me! Thanks for this list – I think it’s time to try something new from this list next year!

I like all these ideas for valentines day, though my favourite will always be breakfast in bed!! If only I could get my hubby to serve it while it’s still hot, it would be perfect! I guess he needs to get points for trying though!!
